Ex-Burr Oak Cemetery director pleads guilty, gets 12 years
Carolyn Towns, the former manager of a historic cemetery in Chicago’s south suburbs at the center of a grave-reselling scandal, pleaded guilty Friday to criminal charges including dismemberment of a human body and theft and was sentenced to serve 12 years in prison. Three other former Burr Oak Cemetery employees still face charges in a scandal that involved digging up graves and reselling burial plots.
