Shots fired as U.S. marshals serve warrant in Logan Square

A suspect was in custody this morning after shots were fired as U.S. deputy marshals were serving an arrest warrant in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, according to officials.

At least four deputy marshals were serving the warrant in the 1800 block of N. St. Louis Avenue around 6:30 a.m. when someone opened fire, according to Belkis Cantor, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Marshal's office in Chicago.

The deputy marshals did not return fire, she said.

The gunman fled to the 1800 block of North Drake, where he was arrested, according to Cantor and Chicago police.
