REBECCA NALEPA'S SISTER: 'IT WASN'T SUICIDE'

MURDER OR SUICIDE?
THE SISTER of a woman found hanging at a millionaire's mansion with her arms and legs bound refuses to believe that she committed suicide.
Mary Zahau-Loehner said she spoke to her sister Rebecca Zahau, also known as Rebecca Nalepa, the day before her death and she had given no impression that she intended to take her own life.
Instead they had talked about Jonah Shacknai's son, Max, who had been seriously injured, when he fell down the grand staircase of the 27-room mansion and sadly passed away Monday.
Zahau-Loehner told ABC News: "Rebecca was a beautiful, vibrant, loving and kind person and she would never do this to herself.
"She was going to call mom and dad the next morning and text me throughout the day with updates on Max. She was very hopeful. She had to be strong and there for Jonah."
She added that her sister had always seemed very happy with Shacknai, who founded pharmaceutical giant Medicis which makes dermatological and aesthetic pharmaceutical products and took $700million in revenue last year.
Autopsies are being conducted on both bodies and the San Diego sheriff's office said today it's unclear if the boy's injuries are related to Zahau's death - although it was rumored she was supposed to be looking after the boy when he fell.
San Diego sheriff spokesman Roy Frank said: "Our investigation would include Max's incident. As far as if they are related, that's something we are just going to have to wait and see."
They are also trying to  determine whether Zahau, was murdered or it was in fact suicide, although initially called her death, "very suspicious."
Franks added: "We have had other cases in the past where people have used creative ways to commit suicide including people whose hands were tied behind their back."

COPS: REBECCA NALEPA MET 'VIOLENT END' AT MANSION

HER beautiful naked body was found hanging, her hands and feet bound with orange electrical cord after a high society party at her pharmaceutical millionaire boyfriend's mansion.
Rebecca Nalepa, 32, met what officers described as a 'very violent and very suspicious end' at Jonah Shacknai's historic $17 million home in Coronado, CO.
The 54-year-old's brother Adam made the gruesome discovery.  He told cops he found the 32-year-old divorcee's body hanging by her neck from a second floor balcony, with her hands and feet
bound by orange electrical cord, the day after a swanky party at the 27-room luxury home.

Stranger still, just the day before Shacknai's six-year-old son had fallen down the stairs when Nalepa was reportedly looking after him.
He is still recovering in hospital, after emergency crews administered CPR and rushed him there.
Tim Curran, with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, described the circumstances as 'very suspicious', telling NBC San Diego that it appeared the victim had died a 'violent' death.
He said: "This is a very bizarre death, there is no doubt about it, no question about it. Until we can absolutely establish one manner or another, we're not ready to call this a criminal matter or a suicide."

DEFENCE RESTS: CASEY ANTHONY DOESN'T TESTIFY

SUICIDAL
UPDATE: The defense for Casey Anthony rested yesterday without calling Florida's best known Party Mom to testify. Asked by Orange County Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr. if she was cool with it, she said: "Yes sir." Now, jurors will hear rebuttal witnesses.
Earlier, George Anthony's mistress Krystal Holloway told the court that Caylee Anthony's death was: "an accident that snowballed out of control. "an accident that snowballed out of control."
"I was in shock. By the time I looked up, his eyes were filled with tears. I didn't elaborate. I didn't ask anything further." MORE FROM CNN

EARLIER: Casey Anthony's distraught father George, tried to kill himself so he could "go and be with Caylee" the court heard
yesterday.

Bursting into tears he explained that he wrote a suicide note, called family members to "say goodbye for the last time" then took pills and alcohol.
But cops foiled his bid to end it all, rushing to his motel room after someone raised the alarm and took him to hospital where his stomach was pumped.
He told the rapt jury: "I just felt like it was the right time to go and be with Caylee. My emotional state even through today is it’s very hard to accept that I don’t have a grand-daughter.

"I just decided that was the time for me to get away from all this, to spend time with Caylee. I didn’t want to be in this world any more."
For the second time in the five week trial, he denied having sexually molested his daughter as a childand reacted furiously when defense attorney Jose Baez put it to him that he had attempted to kill himself, because of his guilt over his granddaughter Caylee's death.
They maintain that the toddler drowned in the swimming pool at the family home and was not suffocated by her mother, Casey.
Exploding, he said: "How dare you, sir, try to tell me I did something differently to what I did."
The move may have been the final straw for the defense team, who are expected to wrap up their case this week, although it is still not known whether they will call their client to the stand.
The trial continues.
