2 colored guys sought in South Side bank robbery - 118th and South Western Ave

Two men are being sought in connection with the armed robbery Tuesday of a First American Bank branch office on Chicago’s South Side.

Two men with guns walked into the bank about 10 a.m. Tuesday, approached a teller and announced the robbery, the FBI said. One robber jumped over the counter and took cash from the tellers’ drawers, the FBI said.

A dye pack exploded soon after the men ran from the bank at 11821 S. Western Ave. Their getaway car crashed into a garbage truck a couple of blocks away from the bank, but they were able to drive off eastbound on 116th Street, the FBI said.

The robbers were described as black men in the early 30s. One man had a long, black and gray beard; the other had a short, black beard. They were wearing dark clothing, the FBI said.

No one was injured.

Anyone with any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago Office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or any local law enforcement agency.
