Former Indiana trooper admits releasing drunken driver

A former Indiana state trooper has pleaded guilty to charges that he destroyed results of an alcohol test and released an intoxicated driver.

The charges against 28-year-old Brandon Titus of Lafayette followed a woman's complaint to state police that she was forced to stay in his police cruiser for an extended period after being stopped for speeding in West Lafayette last year.

If a judge accepts Tuesday's plea, Titus will be sentenced to six months on unsupervised probation.

Titus admitted that he released the woman despite a test showing her with blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent, double legal limit to drive.

Police say Titus' in-car computer had 34 photos of the woman that appeared to have been downloaded from the social networking site Facebook.
