While carrying out a routine eviction Wednesday in the 1400 block of Evergreen Terrace in Glenview, Cook County Sheriff’s Police arrested Juro Konstantinov, 33, after stumbling upon numerous marijuana plants, according to a sheriff’s press release.
Konstantinov’s 8- and 3-year-old children were home during the arrest, and the sheriff’s office social worker contacted the Department of Children and Family Services.
Authorities found 14 mature plants and 30 seedlings in the 3,100-square foot home, which Konstantinov was renting, officials said. The 5,000 grams of marijuana seized had a street value of $40,000, according to the sheriff’s police.
Authorities also found two pistols, two rifles and a shotgun — all loaded — as well as ammunition.
Konstantinov was charged with felony possession of marijuana and five counts of possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification card. He also was found to be wanted in Monroe County, NY, for trafficking in stolen property and is in the process of being extradited.
