Fleeing vehicle loses tire, ending Chicago police chase on South Side

Three people who led police on a chase early Wednesday are in custody after they allegedly stole a Buick in the Englewood community on Chicago’s South Side.

The incident began at 12:48 a.m. when the victim, who was inside his home, saw the suspects enter his Buick at 69th and Ada streets and drive away, police officer Ron Gaines said.

The victim called police and gave officers a description of the Buick, Gaines said. Officers spotted the vehicle at an unidentified address and tried to pull it over, but it sped away, prompting a police chase, he said.

The vehicles traveled south onto an expressway before it ended at 103rd and Ada streets, where a tire on the Buick fell off and the three were arrested, Gaines said.
