One Murdered and Two More Shot & WoundedOne man was killed and his two companions wounded in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side when two men approached and opened fire, authorities said this morning.
The shooting happened at about 11:55 p.m. Monday in the 9000 block of South Marshfield Avenue, police said.
The three victims were standing on the sidewalk when attacked by the two men, police said, citing early reports.
All three shooting victims were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Raleigh Pritchett, 30, of the 8800 block of South Saginaw Avenue, who was hit in the chest, died at 3:05 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A 37-year-old man with a graze wound to the head and a 19-year-old man with an arm wound were in good condition, police said.
No arrests had been made.
The shooting happened several blocks from where police shot and wounded a man just before this incident.

Police discovered the man's body on the sidewalk about 9:36 p.m. Monday in the 7800 block of South Shore Drive, police said. He had been shot in the head, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office identified him this morning as Errol Grant, of the 7800 block of South Shore Drive.
Grant was approached by several male attackers who pulled guns and opened fire on him, police said.
He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died at 12:25 a.m. today, police said.
Police hadn't made any arrests and offered no motive.
2 teens shot, critically wounded on Far South SideTwo teenagers were shot and critically injured Tuesday night in the city's West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.
The male victims, 15 and 18, were wounded at about 7:20 p.m. on the street in the 11900 block of South Normal Avenue, police said, citing early reports.
The 15-year-old boy was shot in the chest, while the 18-year-old man was shot in the side, police said.
Police couldn't immediately provide more details.
Both victims were rushed to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Police hadn't made any arrests in the shooting.

Officers responding to calls of a person shot in the 1300 block of West 91st Street at about 9:15 a.m. found the unresponsive boy on the street, police said. He had a single gunshot wound to the head.
He was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he remained in critical condition late Tuesday, police said.
Police hadn't located any witnesses to the shooting and still hadn't determined how it occurred. A police source said the boy was a Chicago Public School student.
Calumet Area detectives were investigating the case. No arrests had been made.

Calhoun Paris, of the 2800 block of West 66th Street, died after being shot Monday shortly after 1 p.m. on the 2000 block of West Marquette Avenue, according to officials.
Paris was pronounced dead at 10:09 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
According to police, Paris was on the street when a male offender began shooting and struck him multiple times. The person fled in a biege vehicle, police said.
No one was in custody. Police have launched a homicide investigation.
Man fatally shot near his home
A 34-year-old man was shot and killed last night on the city’s east side, less than a week after another fatal shooting.
Police were called to the 400 block of Franklin about 5:40 p.m. for reports of shots fired and found Lucio Estrada wounded outside his home, according to police spokeswoman Sue Olafson.
Estrada was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
