1 dead, 2 shot and wounded in South Side shootingOne person was dead and two others were injured in a drive-by shooting this morning in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.
Gunshots rang out at about 2:35 a.m. in the 5100 block of South Princeton Avenue, immediately west of the Dan Ryan Expressway, police said.
The three adult victims, two men and a woman, were standing on a porch when a gunman inside a passing vehicle opened fire, police said in a preliminary account.
Dante Lawrence, 30, of the 5000 block of South Princeton, was struck multiple times and was dead at the scene, authorities said. A 34-year-old woman was struck in the side, while a 29-year-old man was shot in the leg.
The wounded victims were taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment. The woman was listed in serious condition and the man in good condition police said.
No arrests had been made this morning.
2 shot, 1 fatally, in Burnside neighborhoodA 21-year-old man died and a 16-year-old boy was injured after they were shot this afternoon in the Burnside neighborhood, police said.
The two were found shot on the 9200 block of South Dobson Avenue at 3:50 p.m., police said.
The two were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital for treatment, police said. The 21-year-old man was later pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police did not have any other information.
2 teenagers shot & wounded in Rogers Park shootingTwo teens were wounded tonight in a possible drive-by shooting on the Far North Side in the city's Rogers Park neighborhood, officials said.
The shooting happened about 7:48 p.m. in an alley on the 6600 block of North Newgard Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
Preliminary reports said a 15-year-old boy, who was shot in the knee, may have been wounded in a drive-by shooting, O'Brien said. An officer on the scene said another youth was shot on the 6600 block of North Glenwood Avenue.
The 15-year-old was taken in good condition to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston. There was no further information available about the other youth's age, condition or where he may have been taken for treatment.
Police were investigating.
Teenager shot on porchA 16-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded while standing on his front porch late this morning in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.
The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition from just east of State Street on 113th Place following the shooting just before 11:15 a.m., said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado.
The boy was standing on his front porch when he heard shots and realized he had been shot in the leg, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety. He was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, Baety said.
Calumet Area detectives were investigating, but had no description of the boy's attacker and no one in custody, Baety said.
Two boys, 13 and 14, shot & wounded in separate shootingsTwo boys ages 13 and 14 have been wounded in separate shootings in Chicago, bringing to at least six the number of children who have been shot in the city in the last week.
The 13-year-old was found shot in the head in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side Tuesday morning, according to police.
Officers responding to calls of a person shot found the boy unresponsive in the 1300 block of West 91st Street at about 9:15 a.m., police said. He had a single gunshot wound to the head.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he remained in critical condition, police said.
Police said they haven't located any witnesses and haven't been able to determine what happened. No arrests had been made.
Late Tuesday night, a 14-year-old boy was wounded in the neck and face near Washington Park on the South Side, police said.
The teen was walking with someone in the 6000 block of South Prairie Avenue just before 10:50 p.m. Tuesday when a third person opened fire, police said, citing preliminary information.
The boy was struck in the neck and also suffered a graze wound to the face, police said. His companion wasn't injured.
The teen was taken to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago, where he was listed in serious condition, police said. No arrests had been made.
At least four other children 13 and younger have been wounded in the city since last Tuesday.
• On Wednesday, 9-year-old son Ivan Burns Jr. was shot in the head after he walked out the back door of his Roseland home on the South Side to bring in their dog Sandy. He remains in critical condition.
On Saturday, two children ages 8 and 12 were wounded in separate shootings.
• Treyvon Robinson, 8, was shot while he played with friends in the front yard of his Englewood neighborhood, dancing to music from a birthday party a few houses down in the 7100 block of South Wood Street.
He suffered a gunshot wounded to the abdomen and was expected to be released from the hospital this week.
• On the other side of the city, a 12-year-old girl was playing with her friend at Mason Park, at Karlov and Maypole avenues, when a gunman emerged from a nearby alley and opened fire. The girl was wounded in her right ankle and left buttock.
• Early Sunday morning, a 13-year-old boy told police he was standing on the street in the 7200 block of South Campbell Avenue when he heard gunshots and realized he'd been shot in the leg, police said.
The boy was taken Holy Cross Hospital.
