Charges have been filed in connection with an attack in Boystown last weekend that was captured on video, according to police and prosecutors.
Darren Hayes, 24, of Hammond has been charged with aggravated battery with a weapon, according to Andy Conklin, a Cook County state's attorney's spokesman.
Police plan to give details of the charges at a press conference this morning.
The video shows a group of young people attacking and stabbing a 25-year-old man in the 3300 block of North Halsted Avenue Sunday night.
The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and was released by Wednesday.
Witnesses told police the group was walking south on Halsted when they began yelling and got into a confrontation with the 25-year-old, who was stabbed several times, according to a police report.
Belmont Area detectives reviewed videos of the attack that were posted online.
