A woman told police she was scrolling through her cell phone contact list while driving when she struck and seriously injured a man near Schaumburg.
The woman was driving north in the left lane of Illinois Highway 53 just south of Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows when she sideswiped a truck stopped on the shoulder, according to State Police Trooper Chris Asmar.
The collision caused a man changing a tire on the truck to become pinned against a median wall, Asmar said.
