Charges have been filed against a woman who was reported missing in Lake Michigan over the weekend and who refused to answer as searchers called her name, police say.
Kristen Adam, 42, of Batavia was charged with disorderly conduct, said Chicago Police News Affairs Sgt. Annoinette Ursitti.
Adam was reported missing in Lake Michigan on the North Side Saturday night. Chicago Fire Department divers were told she had jumped into the lake and did not surface, officials said.
Rescuers began searching for her shortly after 10 p.m. off the 3500 block of North Lake Shore Drive near Belmont Harbor, said Fire Department spokesman Joe Roccasalva.
After a search that also included boats and helicopters, the woman was discovered between a boat and a dock, police said.
Adam was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital for observation.
